Biography
After graduating from medical school in Frankfurt, Mr Martin Klinke received a master’s degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Nice. His thesis focused on gait analysis and foot pathologies.
He completed his post-graduate orthopaedic training in Germany (Frankfurt/Munich) and France (Paris) before undertaking a fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic in Stanmore, London.
Thereafter he worked with Prof. Hinterman in Basle Switzerland who is the world-leading specialist in ankle pathologies and total ankle joint replacement. In 2003 he was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas hospital trust with a special interest in ankle and hindfoot pathologies.
Since 2004 he has been a member of the London Foot and Ankle Centre, which is the biggest and longest established centre of its kind in the UK. In 2008 he became full-time private foot and ankle surgeon at London Bridge Hospital where he now is the senior orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon specialising in the whole spectrum of foot and ankle pathologies.
Mr Klinke performs the whole spectrum of reconstructive foot/ankle surgery and has a particular interest in hindfoot pathologies, ankle replacements, sports injuries and forefoot disorders. This also includes ankle arthroscopy, minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair, minimal invasive forefoot surgery and operative reconstruction of foot deformities.
Due to his training in Sports Medicine, he also treats athletes suffering from acute injuries or overuse syndromes, including shock wave treatment for Achilles tendinopathies and plantar fasciitis. Mr Klinke works very closely with a team of clinicians to ensure best possible conservative treatment but also quick and full recovery after surgery.
Mr Klinke is passionate about his work and patients appreciate very much that he spends sufficient time to explain all relevant aspects of the foot/ankle problems and the possible treatment options and in particular his attempt to avoid surgery whenever possible.
Mr Klinke has been asked to lecture for students, both nationally and internationally. He is also a regularly invited speaker to national and international conferences and also travels internationally to treat specific, complex and rare conditions.
