Mr James Davis

Mr Davis qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1990. His specialist training was on the South-West Thames Orthopaedic rotation during which time he acquired his FRCS (Tr+Orth). Mr Davis completed his training with a fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the USA. 

He was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in surgery of the foot and ankle at Torbay Hospital in 2001. He is based at Torbay Hospital and The London Foot and Ankle Centre. 

He is the senior in a team of 4 consultant foot and ankle surgeons at Torbay Hospital and is part of the national Infinity total ankle replacement surveillance group. He employs a variety of open and minimally invasive techniques. He has been performing ankle replacements for 23 years and has a revision ankle replacement practice for which he uses CT guided custom-made jigs for accurate implantation. 

Mr Davis believes in individualising the treatments to the patient’s needs and understands that expectation matching is important in successful non-surgical and surgical outcomes. 

At the London Foot and Ankle Centre we work with a team of top class Physiotherapists, Radiologists and Podiatrists to help in the management of patient’s conditions. We meet as London Foot and Ankle Centre consultants regularly to discuss the more difficult surgical problems, sharing our combined experience in order to achieve the best results for our patients.

In his career, Mr Davis has been Surgical Tutor to South Devon trainees and Training Programme Director for the Peninsula Orthopaedic senior trainees. He is a retired, invited FRCS (Tr+Orth) examiner and is Past President of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) having been President Elect and chairman of the Education Committee previously. 

Mr Davis has been involved with the National Joint Registry, ODEP and Beyond Compliance. He is a medicolegal expert both in personal injury and clinical negligence cases and has been for the last 25 years. He has acquired the Cert MR from Bond Solon. 

Mr Davis is an invited speaker at national and international foot and ankle meetings and has published many foot and ankle articles.
