Mr Redfern treats the full spectrum of foot and ankle disorders including bunions and forefoot problems, arthritis of the foot and ankle, sports injuries and trauma. He has a world-wide reputation for developing minimally invasive and less invasive techniques in these areas and in particular with regards to bunion surgery and the treatment of complex forefoot and hind foot problems.

David Redfern Biography

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon David Redfern joined LFAC in 2006, combining this with his NHS post at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and academic roles.

He completed his fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University and treats the full spectrum of foot and ankle disorders. He is internationally recognised for developing minimally invasive techniques in foot and ankle surgery, having the greatest UK experience in this field. He regularly lectures nationally and internationally, and has trained hundreds of surgeons worldwide in these techniques, including introducing them to Australia and the USA. He now works exclusively in the private health sector.

He is a reviewer for several major journals including the Bone and Joint Journal. He is chair of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Committee of the European Foot and Ankle Society and has served on council for this society and the British Orthopaedic Foot And Ankle Society.
