About us
FOOT AND ANKLE TREATMENT
A major field
Foot and ankle treatment is a major field of medicine, accounting for more operations than any other orthopaedic specialism.
Complex specialism
It is highly complex, with 28 different bones in the foot alone and surgeons trained in more than 80 operations.
Innovative treatment
Foot and ankle treatment is also a very fast moving area. Technical innovation and medical research continue to create new treatments for difficult conditions and improved outcomes for patients.
Specialist requirements
It is critical that foot and ankle disorders are treated by specialists within the field.
The London Foot and Ankle Centre was founded in 2003 by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Mark Davies.
Mr Davies, who undertakes sports injury work for many elite sportsmen and women including Chelsea Football Club, founded the centre at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood.
The centre was established to provide a specialist, comprehensive and integrated service for all foot and ankle problems.
Now a nationally recognised centre of excellence, the LFAC comprises a large team of consultants, podiatrists and physiotherapists providing services at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth and London Bridge Hospital.
The London Foot and Ankle Centre works closely with leading medical research departments and expert suppliers in the development of new treatments. This enables us to successfully treat problems where previous treatments have failed.
It is proven that the most successful recovery and rehabilitation is achieved by combining the work of consultant orthopaedic surgeons with expert podiatrists and physiotherapists.
